Rules of the Road - Hawaii
Enjoy your travels and take care while you are here. Hawaii has a mandatory seat belt usage law. Be sure to buckle-up or you may get a ticket.
If you are traveling in a vehicle with children under the age of 4, they must be in a child seat. We can make sure you are provided with child seats for your rental car.
Remember this is a tourist destination, which means there will be drivers who may be lost or distracted by sightseeing. Remember, pedestrians always have the right of way.
Hawaii state law forbids open containers of alcoholic beverages in vehicles on the road, or standing on the sidewalk for that matter. Show courtesy to your island hosts by driving peacefully and please watch out for bicyclists on the road. Lots of people rent bicycles and motorcycles in Hawaii, and they too may by distracted or lost.
